Soup and salad

Thinking about my new years resolution.

For my new years resolution this year, I want to be more healthy- maybe even loose a few pounds. But I don't want to do insane workouts that make me throw up, eat only grapefruits and cabbage, or anything else crazy like that.

I know how healthy salad and soup is for you, but I've never been too crazy about eating bunny food. So I browsed my local library and came up with a few salad and soup cookbooks that sounded good, and I set my goal: to make one soup and one salad each week of 2013!
I plan to share some of the recipes here on my blog, so stay tuned and here's wishing you a happy and healthy new year!

New Years Resolutions

Do you make New Year's Resolutions?

I like to make them, but I try to make them a little more creative- for example, one year, I decided to read the bible- took two years, but I did it! One year I decided to exercise for at least 10 minutes every day- I did pretty good with that one too! Last year, my resolution was to do a better job taking care of myself. I do so much taking care of others- my daughter, my students, etc... that sometimes I leave myself with nothing- see here. I'm going to keep on trying with this one, because if I don't take care of myself, then there will be no one to take care of everyone else!

I have a friend who makes the most creative resolutions! Last year she tried one vegetable she hadn't tried before each month. This year, she is going to try one new chocolate each month. She is also going to go through all her CD's, listen to them and either toss them, or convert them to MP3's.  I like her approach to resolutions. It makes them fun to keep.

This year I have decided to make one fun resolution, and one tougher one. For the first one, I am planning to play one game a week with my daughter.
For the second one, I don't want to go to bed with dirty dishes in my sink.
Anyone who knows me, knows which one will be the tricky one!

What resolutions are you planning on making for the new year?

Resolutions, Lotion and Screen time

Welcome 2011! My daughter and I are ready for you! I am not one to make resolutions that I will only break in a month. I like to make resolutions that are easy to keep. So today, my daughter and I sat down and made our lists and here they are:
HERS:
1) Go to Disney more
2) Cook with my mom more
3) Have more fun with my mom
4) Take better care of the garden
5) Learn more
MINE:
1) To have more fun with my daughter
2) To take better care of myself, and remembering to do the small things, such as putting lotion on after a shower (how did my legs get so dry?!), taking my allergy medication and putting on make-up on in the morning. Basically just not doing things like remembering my daughter's lunch for school, or swimsuit for the pool and forgetting my own!
3) To manage my money and budget better by using mint.com
4) To limit my screen time. Yes, I know this is something you are supposed to do for toddlers, but lately it feels as if I am constantly either watching TV or playing around on the computer. It is definitely time to rein it in and pay attention to real life more!
WISH US LUCK!

For the new year I decided to keep it simple- no weight loss promises or trying to stop cussin for me- no! Em and I decided to try to love each other more. One day down, 364 to go and it is already a struggle for us, lol! Here is to a more love filled 2010 for everyone!
