Yummy dinner at nearby cooking school!
The other night I went along with some friends to the local culinary school's graduation dinner. A guy who we work with was graduating and invited us to come check it out. They cooked a Spanish themed five course dinner that was delicious! We had yucca mofongos (fried yucca balls), shrimp ceviche, mexican chicken soup, steak rolleno (rolled up with rice and beans in the middle), and my favorite- a trio of sorbets that was so delicious!
This is a picture of our quatrain of desserts. The one on the spoon was supposed to be sort of like a mojito. We toasted and then all popped it into our mouths at the same time. It was not what we expected- we definitely did not taste the mint in it! It was cool to pretend we were Top Chef judges while we ate and we had a great time. Most culinary schools have a night when they cook for the public. Find one near you today!

I've heard that the culinary schools are often the best places to dine out and usually are very reasonably priced.
Your meal sounds very adventurous, half of the things I hadn't heard of :-)
what a great place to dine...I've never heard of that but of course it makes perfect sense!
Have a great weekend!
Sounds wonderful getting to taste such wonderful food. The picture looks good. My six words for Saturday - It is soup day in Jamaica!:)
how very cool! our culinary class caters our meetings every once in awhile and they are delicious. what a treat to have food from a culinary school!
Sounds like a good idea.
Oh now this is the place for me! Thanks!
What a great idea! I'll have to try this sometime. :)
sounds like a great time I can imagine how yummy it was come see what I shared at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
What a fun idea. Wish there was a school near us so we could try that. For another food adventure, try going to a sushi bar, or other place where you're not totally familiar with the food, and just ask the waiter to surprise you. Great way to experience new things.
well, isn't it convenient to have a friend at the culinary schoool!?!
;)~
we have here l'Institut de l'Hotellerie, that is reputed for its great teachings and many chefs have since become famous, well, here at least!!
:D~
Prince William and Kate dropped by this summer and stopped by the Hotellerie. since then, the place is booked because everyone wants to taste what THEY had for dinner there.
:D~
