Grillin' Out

For my birthday, my brother and sister in-law gave me a gas grill.  I have been wanting one for awhile now.  I have a charcoal grill, but never have charcoal or the time to wait for the charcoal to heat up.  Finally, this weekend I had an extra afternoon to sit down with my pieces and the directions for assembling my grill.  I followed the directions to a t, but then it came time to assemble the gas canister.  I started freaking out over all the warnings and exclamation points!!!!  The directions actually said, "failure to follow these instructions could result in fire or explosion, which could cause property damage, personal injury or death!"  Holy crap!!! So, I read all the directions all over again, then I called my mom!  She calmed me down, talked me through it, and gave me the bravery to turn the grill on and light it.  Success!  I have cooked on it every night this week!  I made steaks, grilled chicken breasts, a turkey sausage to cut up and put in some flower shaped pasta, and hamburgers!  I am loving this grill!  What is your favorite thing to grill?

Yeah! for gas grills! I use mine all the time, too. I also keep a spare propane tank because running out of gas during cooking is a bummer. If you use it a lot (and you are, and will continue to!) you will want a spare tank. I love everything on the grill...salmon, chicken, pork, beef, corn, and... I like to take a piece of aluminum foil, spray with pan spray, put frozen veggies in it (like broccoli) wrap it up, and place it on the grill. By the time your meat is done so are your veggies! Carefully open the packet (it's steamy hot!) and spray with "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter" spray butter. Or you can put butter or margarine on them. Easy, quick, and yummy!

My favorite thing to grill is whatever somebody else is making...meaning a)if I am in charge of the actual grilling, things are going to come inside in pieces from my numerous "doneness checks"...and will probably still be overcooked and b)the yummy smell in the neighborhood on summer evenings always seems better than what I have planned!
